"I participated in the Maryland Leadership Workshops program this summer. In the workshops, I facilitated a committee that focused on improving communication between adults and teenagers. Our final product was a magazine that will be posted on the leadership website. As a member of my high school's Student Leadership Cadre, I helped middle school students develop team-building skills through fun activities and games. I am also involved with my county's Association of Student Councils, and I will be leading discussions on Chesapeake Bay pollution at the Maryland Association of Student Councils Convention next spring."

GOVERNMENT

Future leaders of the world, Discus wants to hear from you. Perhaps you won an elected position in your school’s student government, or participated in a model UN. Maybe you motivated your fellow students to register to vote in a grassroots campaign, or went door to door for a City Councilman you care about. If you’re involved with the way the world is governed, colleges want to know about it. Winning a Discus Award will help clue them in.
