College Scholarships: 2014-2015 Academic Year

Everyone appreciates a scholarship for college.  But with so many out there and other high schools students competing for the same ones, it can be tough to find scholarships that are right for you.

To make your life a little easier, the Discus Awards has created a list of available college scholarships.  The Discus Awards' List of College Scholarships is constantly updated, provides eligibility information, lets you know the application deadline, and even how much scholarship money you could win.

Eligibility: Scholarships for high school freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors, undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education students.

Deadline: October 31, 2014

Amount: Up to $10,000

$2,000 CaptainU Student-Athlete Scholarship

Eligibility: Scholarship for all student-athletes graduating high school in 2015 or later who plan to attend a 4-year college.

Deadline: December 31, 2014

Amount: $2,000

 

Academic Year 2014-2015 Scholarships:

DoSomething.org Anti-Bullying Scholarship

Eligibility: Scholarship for students between 16-25 years old. One in four students report being bullied at school. Through a texting game, you can team up with your friends to take action against bullying and become eligible for a $10,000 college scholarship.

Deadline: October 17, 2014

Amount: $10,000

Coca-Cola Scholars Program

Eligibility: Scholarships for high school seniors. The Coca-Cola Scholars program awards students for their academics, leadership, and community service achievements. 150 students are chosen each year to receive a $20,000 scholarship.

Deadline: October 31, 2014

Amount: $20,000

Twist and Shout Scholarship Poetry Slam

Eligibility: Scholarships for current or former high school students 25 years old or younger, currently or planning to attend college or university in the U.S. or its territories. Register to become a Power Poet and create a poem about one of the following questions: Who or what are you proud of? What are you looking forward to? What are you awesome at? What makes you laugh?

Deadline: October 31, 2014

Amount: $1,000

FastWeb Refer A Friend Scholarship

Eligibility: Scholarships for high school students, undergraduate students, and graduate students.

Deadline: October 31, 2014

Amount: $500

$2,000 "No Essay" College Scholarship

Eligibility: Scholarship for current students and those planning to enroll within 12 months.

Deadline: October 31, 2014

Amount: $2,000

$500 "Define Yourself" Scholarship

Eligibility: Scholarship for high school seniors, college freshmen, sophomores and juniors who plan on attending a 4 year college in fall 2013 and register on the site above.

Voice of Democracy Scholarship Essay Contest

Eligibility: Scholarships for high school students in grades 9-12 on November 1, 2014. Applicants must write an essay about "Why Veterans are Important to our Nation's History and Future", and the record themselves reading their essay. The recording must be between 3-5 minutes long.

Deadline: November 1, 2014

Amount: Up to $30,000

Patriot's Pen Scholarship Essay Contest

Eligibility: Scholarships for middle school students in grades 6-8 on November 1, 2014. Applicants must write an essay between 300-400 words about "Why I Appreciate America's Veterans".

Deadline: November 1, 2014

Amount: Up to $5,000

Behind the Curtain Poetry Slam Scholarship

Eligibility: Scholarships for current or former high schoool students who are 25 years or younger. Become a Power Poet and write a poem about one of the following questions: Do you hide behind a curtain, or a mask of sorts? Who are you internally versus the person you present to everyone else?

Deadline: November 30, 2014

Amount: $1,000

TicketCity Annual College Scholarship Program

Eligibility: Scholarships for college freshmen, sophomores, and juniors, who are currently enrolled in an accredited university, and have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. Students must write a short essay (500-800 words), and submit a picture or video showing off their game-day spirit.

Deadline: December 1, 2014

Amount: $2,500

Imagine America Foundation Scholarship

Eligibility: Scholarships for high school seniors and recent graduates who are planning to enroll in a career college. Minimum 2.5 GPA required, along with financial need and meaningful community service experience.

Deadline: December 31, 2014

Amount: $1,000
