"As an Eagle Scout I am obligated to help out the environment. I practice daily what scouts call the outdoor code and "leave no trace behind" policy. This tells us how to preserve the world we are using by not littering or making our presence known. My boy scout experiences have shaped me into the person that I am today. I actively participate in many wildlife, hiking trail, and road side clean ups; and I have done this since I was in grade school."

GREEN
The future belongs to you, so it’s only natural that you fight for your planet’s future. Did you organize neighborhood kids to collect aluminum cans from the trash? Convince your English teacher to go paperless? Start an organic garden behind the cafeteria? If you’ve made the world a greener place through clean-ups, recycling programs, or promoting greater awareness, you are one step closer to a Discus Award. The Discus Awards recognize students who make the environment a key focus during their high school years. These are “green awards” for high school students who know that the future is in their hands.
