Arts
Drawing has been a big part of my personality and my life, its how I make friends, how I relief stress, and how to interpret anger. I have been drawing since I was a child; I never took any art classes or any art programs, I got the talent from my mother. I usually draw what I see, what I want, what I cannot get, what i wish i was, and what i will never be. I was born in iraq, Baghdad , I was there when the war started. I have seen things, i have lost people, and I had to face death many times, art and drawing has helped me get over these things and move on to a batter place in my life. Coming to the United States, i had a culture shock, it was difficult for me to talk to others or make friends; however my drawings made people fascinated and interested and that helped me make many friends.
Technology
Last year I worked for a program called Digital, Connectors; this program is all about computers, computer programming and using them correctly. Digital Connectors lasted thirteen months and during that time I learn how to use different types of computer programs, how to assemble a computer so that it works properly and the different parts of a laptop and a computer and how they work. i also worked for a program called ASE Saturday academy during the summer, i had the chance to work at a lab for solar energy research. one of the projects i did there was the SHArK project; SHArK Solar Hydrogen Activity Research Kit, the kit's job is to create hydrogen using metal oxides and water. i got the chance to use several metal oxides like copper and zinc to test on this kit that's made out of legos.
Community Service
during my sophomore year in high school I worked for a program called Digital Connectors; this program is all about computers, computer programming and using them correctly. Community service is also an important part of the program; that’s why I had to assemble a group of other students in the program that I lead, to go to a middle school and talked about the benefits of the Internet to the middle school students. Another time, I went to a homeless shelter on Christmas and served food to the homeless; we went there at eight in the morning and stayed there unit eleven at night. It was a very fun experience, i had the chance to speak to many interesting people and i also learned how important it it for people in a community to take care of each other. it also snowed at the end of the night.
