ATTRIBUTES
Academics
I always try to work at the highest level possible by taking as many AP and honors courses as I can, including AP Calculus and AP US History. The only non-honors/AP courses I take are Orchestra and BCA, both of which I have excelled in, receiving the Orchestra award sophomore year and the Business award freshman year. Along with that business award, I obtained MOS certification during my junior year and became an officer of the club that goes along with the business courses at my school, FBLA. I also participate in the Mass Communications specialty center at my school where we focus on community outreach by creating campaigns on global issues. Despite the workload, I have worked hard and am in the top 10% of my class. I am also a member of three honor societies: NHS, NEHS, and Tri-M.
Athletics
With my athletics in high school I have been quite varied, starting out as a gymnast in ninth grade, taking five dance classes in tenth grade, and becoming a member of my dance studio's company program in eleventh grade. In my dance company I dance an average of nine to thirteen hours a week and I also do additional performances in festivals, parades, nursing homes and elementary schools. We as a studio work to promote Soles 4 Souls, a charity that works to provide shoes to those in need, and we have donated hundreds of pairs of shoes to the organization. Also, I tried out for my school's dance team and I will be participating in that during my senior year, dancing in pep rallies, at home football games, and also at basketball games throughout the year.
Faith
The summer of my freshman year I got to take a mission trip to Kilmarnock, VA and paint a home for a woman in need, and the summer of my sophomore year I took a trip to Kentucky. One of the parts of that second trip that stuck out to me was hosting a carnival for the town there, because I got to witness how much of an effect a small group can have on an entire town. We also volunteered at a nursing home and cleared out a ravine. The summer of my junior year I did not get to go on a trip so instead I started volunteering at my local nursing home, where I've won Volunteer of the Year. I was also a member of the leadership group at my church my sophomore year, and for the past two years I've gone to my girl's small group and also helped out with the babies in the nursery on a weekly basis.
