ATTRIBUTES
Athletics
I did not participate in as many athletic programs as I would have liked too, however I feel I got the best experience out of each activity every year. I have been a majorette for 6 years, all through Junior and Senior high school. My 8th and 9th grade years I was voted Most Improved Majorette. When I was in 9th grade I was nominated as a majorette co-captain, and continued as senior captain for 10th, 11th, and 12th grade. I have also been the lead choreographer for the majorettes for my 10th, 11th, and 12th grade years. From 8th through 10th grade I ran on my high schools varsity cross country team until I injured my knee. I continued with the cross country team serving as the manager for my 11th and 12th grade year.
Community Service
Since I was a child my mother stressed to me how important community service is and how important giving back to the community is. I have done my best to do volunteer as often as I can. As an Ambassador Girl Scout I know how important it is to have fun in Girl Scouting at a young age and volunteered as an Assistant leader for a Daisy, Brownie, and a Junior Troop. On top of attending the meetings I helped plan the meetings as well as going on trips with the girls. I have watched several of the girls progress from Daisies' to Juniors. I have also volunteered at my local environmental center on numerous occasions and have done a variety of tasks. Twice a week I also volunteer as a tutor and teacher at an after school program for less fortunate kids at the local elementary school.
Work
Throughout my high school career I have had a variety of jobs, all needing different skills. For two years I worked as a server/dishwasher at a local reception hall. I learned a lot about working with different types of people under different conditions. For the next two years, I worked as a photographer and sales clerk for a local paintball company enhancing my computer and people skills, which also enabled me to work over the summer at a local rafting center, sister companies with the paintball center. Lastly, for two consecutive summers I worked as a Naturalists' Assistant at the local environmental center where I assisted in planning children's programs. I also worked at the one week resident camp, and was awarded Counselor of the Year two years in a row.
