Seeing my first Broadway play made me realize one thing: I wanted to perform! I joined my school chorus went around singing and dancing and sure enough my freshmen year, I was cast as the supporting role of “Marta” in the Sound of Music. Sophomore year I was cast as “Little Cossette” and I performed my first solo “Castle on a Cloud” on stage in Les Miserables. I was then so honored when asked to sing a solo act at a benefit concert with other performers such as two of the leads in Broadway’s Hairspray, Young Frankenstein and many more. Junior year I was invited to be in the highest chorus and got the lead dancing role in West Side Story. Senior year I am having the greatest time working on The Wedding Singer with the lead role
Athletics
My school’s lacrosse only winning one game ever drove me to try my hardest as a varsity starter in my first lacrosse game freshman year. Ending that season with six games won and nine seniors leaving, my sophomore year I knew I had to step up. I played travel lacrosse year-round and practiced religiously. We nearly doubled our record from the previous year and I received awards of All-SWC, All-Area, Attack Award, and leading scorer. By my junior year I recognized a pattern forming: the closer we grew; the more games we won. This carried us all the way to the state finals. Winning the CT Lacrosse State Championship was one of the best days of my life and I got the honors of All-State, All-SWC, All-Area, leading scorer, and MVP.
Other Achievements
I have a goal of becoming a News Broadcaster and it when I was elected Communication Coordinator my junior and senior years, I began to produce interviews for my school’s website, TV, ad promotions, and was even requested by the school president I make the opening video for the NEASC accreditation evaluation! I received an internship at a local TV station and it was an incredible behind-the-scenes learning experience as well as some on-air exposure. This January, NBC CT recognized my broadcast passion through a YouTube video and came to my home to conduct a story on my video. This video was featured on NBC, FOX, and many radio stations and it truly shows my love for broadcasting and has taught me the power of true news communication.
