ATTRIBUTES
Athletics
In all four years of high school, I competed at the varsity level in volleyball, basketball, and track. Through my hard work and dedication, I received various awards such as most improved player, leading blocker in the state, and most valuable player. My senior year, I was selected as captain in volleyball and basketball. However, I was captain in track for all four years. Our team made it to the state championships every year. In 2011, we were a semi-finalist in the state basketball playoffs. Also, in 2010, I was a state finalist in shot put. Furthermore, in track I was a part of the 4 by 1 relay team. Every year we were a finalist in state and won several medals. My biggest accomplishment in athletics would be my growing leadership each year.
Community Service
Through out high school, I have participated in various community service activities. One activity was being a camp counselor at the Natural Resource Conservation Workshop for Arizona Youth. During this camp, I organized activities that taught students about the importance of natural resources in our world. I enjoy working with youth and educating them. Moreover, I started tutoring at McNeal Elementary School my senior year. As a tutor, I aid younger students in classroom activities, such as writing letters or completing math assignments. I choose to begin tutoring because there was one teacher for kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade. I could only imagine the struggle there was in teaching three different classes. I strive to be the best teen educator in our community.
Other Achievements
My other achievements category is based off of my participation in FFA. The National FFA Organization shaped me into an exceptional leader. In our local chapter, I have held the positions of treasurer, secretary, and vice-president. These positions gave me a lot of responsibilities and opportunities to work with students my age. I believe I have done an outstanding job by considering everyone's ideas and opinions. Additionally, I have competed in many different events such as Prepared Public Speaking, Range Management, and Parliamentary Procedure. Almost every competition was a team event so I continued working well with others. As a result, I have competed at two national contests in Prepared, Soils, Range, and the Agriscience Fair. My greatest successes in high school have been in FFA.
