ATTRIBUTES
Faith
My religion and my faith has largely defined who I am in every aspect of my life. I was brought up by religious parents and decided to build up my own faith and let it affect my life every day. This desire has led me to a determination to hold standards for myself that the world may view as difficult and restrictive.
At school and outside of school, my standards and faith set me apart. Though I do not distance myself from the people who choose to indulge in activities that I choose to avoid, I have often stood alone in my resolve to keep above influences such as drugs, alcohol, lying, cheating, and swearing. Through my own experiences, I know that by maintaining my standards and staying strong in my faith, I have a bright future and I will and have obtained a lasting happiness!
Community Service
The time I have spent in service has been the most uplifting and rewarding times in my life. Service inherently brings happiness to both the giver and the receiver. I have found this to be true in my life and I have sought out opportunities to give service frequently. Many chances to give service have come through the Boy Scouts of America and my church. Through both groups, I have spent at least one to two Saturdays a month doing large landscaping projects for elderly households, volunteering hours at distribution centers, cleaning up canyons and parks, helping carry out Eagle Scout projects, and many other forms of service.
While a scout, I moved up the ranks until I was able to finally plan and carry out my own Eagle Scout project for the community and received my Eagle Scout award.
Government
Thoughts about participating in student government did not arise until my Junior year of high school! The student body leaders had always seemed hard-working, upbeat, and charismatic in previous years. So nearing the end of my Junior year, I decided to further develop these attributes and my leadership skills by campaigning for a position. I ran for Senior class president. After over a month of campaigning and delivering a speech, I was notified that I had been elected as Senior class president for the following year.
This year I have put much of my time and effort into planning, fundraising , and carrying out activities and events that my Senior class has and will enjoy the entire year! My position as Senior class president has been one of the most influential aspects of my life.
