ATTRIBUTES
Academics
Academically, I have had straight A’s since I started school, and I have put in a lot of time and effort into my studies. With a 4.45 wighted grade point average, and a 4.00 unweighted, I am in the top three percent of my senior class, and will be an Honor Graduate in 2012. After having taken the ACT test 7 times, I raised my score to a 31. Because I have taken thirteen honors and advanced placement classes, I have developed effective study habits. This rigorous path of coursework has taught me to utilize my time and stay organized as well. I will also have 15 college credit hours that I took concurrently, by the time I graduate from high school. I have scored advanced on all my state tests and End of Instruction Tests for graduation. I will strive for excellence and success.
Community Service
I have over 80 hours of community service and enjoy helping others in my high school and city. Emceeing a Muscular Dystrophy Association Baby Pageant event that helped raise $25,000 for research and cure, and I volunteered at the Labor Day televised telethon. I have spoken to elementary school students at my former elementary, James Dennis Elementary the last two years in a row, and spoken to young girls who are in foster care custody at Harvest Church on the topic of “Goals”. In addition, I have spoken to elementary aged students at Council Road Baptist, volunteered for Boys & Girls Club, Anna’s Kids, and Ronald McDonald House. Volunteering three times for the Red Bud Classic Run as a water station volunteer and three events for the American Cancer Society Relays for Life events, too.
Government
Elected by a panel of faculty this year, I serve as the Student Council Treasurer. Honesty and efficiency are key parts of being successful at such a stressful and demanding job. As part of my duties, I spend countless hours before and after school organizing, counting, receipting, and depositing funds from all of our events and t-shirt sales. I have learned how to run a business, balance an account, use purchase orders to buy supplies, and learned general consensus and cooperation with thirteen other officers. I help plan many crucial school-wide fundraising events such as food drives and am present at every school event. I set the standard for my high school’s student body and live as an example for the younger students by daily abstaining from drugs, alcohol, and sex.
