Academics
Due to my interest in the medical field, academics have always been and will continue to be a priority of mine. I am currently enrolled in three AP classes and have completed two AP classes last year. I have also completed four Honors Classes. With a 4.0 GPA and very rigorous class load, I have demonstrated excellence in the classroom. In addition, I received a score of 30 on my ACT. My grades and classroom conduct have gained me admittance into the National Honors Society, a nationally recognized student volunteer program. In addition to my own academics, I am also a tutor for an eight grade student and friend. While we focus on reading comprehension and writing, I strive to make learning fun - a key to success that I have used throughout my academic career.
Athletics
I have been blessed with great success in Varsity swimming. Starting when I was only 6 years old, my swimming career has expanded from "fishy goggles" to national competitions. I have received multiple coaches awards throughout the years, but the award I value the most is being named "Team Captain" of my reputable high school swim team. My team is made up of more than just teammates - they are all my best friends. I have been voted MVP on my high school team and have worked to be the best leader I can be every single day. Having competed in Palo Alto, CA; Orlando, FL; Indianapolis, IN; and many more places, I have come to realize how much I love my home team. Also, I was admitted into the Scholastic All-American Club, recognizing success in both the classroom and in the pool.
Community Service
While growing up, I was always told that life is not defined by how happy you can make yourself, but is defined by your influence on others. I have volunteered with the nonprofit organization, "I Back Jack Foundation, Inc," benefiting childhood cancer, for a year and my life has changed in so many ways! Last year alone, I helped organize two major fundraisers. One, a golf outing, raised an astounding $125,000 for Neuroblastoma research. Also, I helped plan the "World's Largest Game of Bananagrams," raising another $75,000. We officially made the Guinness Book of World Records and completely funded a new clinical trial, Hu3f8, in New York City for Neuroblastoma patients. Also, I directly contacted the Black Eyed Peas and they made a "Stay Strong" Video for all kids fighting cancer!
