Arts
Even though I've only begun seriously developing my art skills in the last 2 years, I have already won prestigious awards. My very first drawing project won 5th place at the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo Student Art Contest, and sold for $9,080. My second drawing won 5th place at the same contest, and will be auctioned off on February 21. I am working on my 3rd rodeo drawing now, and intend to continue developing my artistic skills in the future. I attended the Western Art Academy last summer where I studied oil painting and clay sculpture for 3 solid weeks. I hope to be an art teacher one day.
Community Service
I have contributed to my community in a wide variety of ways. From being a member of my local political party club, to volunteering at the local humane society, to simply cleaning up roadways, I love giving to my community. I have participated in community youth orchestras for many years, and I have spent many hours teaching special needs youth how to swim at my local Special Olympics swimming program. I also enjoy participating in a homeless ministry on Sunday afternoons, were my family and I serve a free meal to the homeless people of San Antonio. These are just some of the many ways in which I serve my community.
Government
I am very interested in the political process, and in April I will have attended TeenPact State Capitol Classes for four years. These week-long camps gave me a hands-on, in depth education on the political process and how I can be involved. As a result, I have spent countless hours volunteering for local political campaigns and even received the Good Citizenship Award from the Texas Homeschool Coalition in recognition of my many hours of political service. I hope to continue my involvement with politics throughout my entire life.
