Arts
Arts

I excel in arts because I have been in a painting class for 3 years now. I am in love with painting and plan to continue working on my skills for as long as I can. I have had 2 of my works accepted into Apotheosis, my school's literary arts magazine, and there may be a third piece accepted to this year's magazine. Painting has been my passion for a while now and I have been taking on more difficult subjects as I continue in this hobby. At the moment, I am working on a cultural piece of two Maori children. It is only their heads up, but I think that it really shows how their culture is so much different than ours. It will be challenging, but I am excited to work hard on it especially because I love that culture.

Academics
Academics

Academics is one part of my life I will be surrounded by for a long time. I am pursuing a career in dental medicine and I know that I will be in school for a while longer in my life. Academics I have found to be another challenge in my life. It's hard to balance school and studies with all the fun things in my life, but I know that many more students around the world are faced with this same difficulty. I have realized that over the years, I have gotten to be very good at getting the work done that is due in a timely manner and then going off to be social and have free time. I excel not necessarily because of my grades, though they are relatively high, but because I can get everything done, while learning it instead of memorizing it.

Work
Work

Work is also a big part of my life. I don't want to sound like I work all the time just for the hours or the money, but I actually enjoy what I do. For the past two years I have been a swim instructor for two different companies. When I left the first company, I was told that everyone was unhappy that I left because of my energy and friendliness in my teaching while I got the material across. My boss told me that he was sad to see me go because he considered me one of his top staff out of a 30 person aquatics staff. I love to teach kids how to swim because both the kids and I have such a fun time in the pool both learning from each other and having fun. I hope I am able to continue teaching for as long as I am able to.
