ATTRIBUTES
Community Service
My community is the most important thing to me. I am a reading tutor at a local elementary school and teach PEAK (Peers Encouraging Abstinent Kids) at a local Middle School. Last year, I participated in TATU (Teens Against Tobacco Use) and StartStrong Idaho, a program encouraging healthy teen relationships. This year, I am coordinating our school's annual blood drive. I also attended the 2009 Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership Conference in Caldwell, Idaho.
Faith
Since third grade I have been attending Deer Flat Free Methodist Church in Caldwell, Idaho and have been actively involved in all the programs it offers. I am a Sunday School teacher and have been for four years. I also have been a church camp counselor for three years, and am active in the children's ministry year round for the church. I teach VBS (Vacation Bible School) every year as well as other miscellaneous events year round, such as Easter, Halloween, and Christmas programs. Last year I attended a Bigstuf youth conference in Panama City Beach, Florida
Other Achievements
My dream is to become a journalist, and being a yearbook member has been a superb way of preparing for the rigorous life of a writer. I will be Copy Editor this coming year, in charge of all the written aspects of the book. This year and the year before I have also been a key writer for the book. Also, I have played for two years on my school's soccer team and will be the following season along with spring and winter indoor programs. I manage to balance a part-time job at Dutch Bros., a northwest coffee shop franchise, also.
