Academics
In my years of schooling, I have always chosen to take the more arduous path, in hopes of becoming stronger, both in confidence and in intelligence. I have earned straight A’s in high level courses, am currently ranked 10th in my class of 494, and have maintained a 4.49 cumulative GPA. Having taken 6 Advanced Placement and over 9 Honors courses, I have been exposed to a wide range of interesting subjects in our world. These difficult, and sometimes strenuous classes, have taught me to have patience and persistence in life, and to appreciate all aspects of human nature, especially intellectualism. I have not only discovered my own potential and discovered new interests, but realized how much of an influence others have had on my succes
Arts
I have always enjoyed expressing myself through art and photography, but it was not until recently in that I have begun to use my art as a way to indirectly communicate to the viewer. Currently, I am enrolled in an AP Studio Art class at my high school where I must complete a portfolio of 24 pieces. As I continue to explore different art forms, including photography, I become increasingly aware and appreciative of the beauty of my surroundings: yet another aspect I wish to portray in my work. Recently, as Key Club Historian, I have combined my passions for art and service, by photographing countless volunteer events and capturing the impact we make. In 2008, my talents were awarded at the school Art Show with the First Place ribbon.
Community Service
Community service is an extremelly important passion of mine, and a hobby which I will continue in my future. Since experiencing the life of the displaced Ugandans at Invisible Children's overnight benefit event, "Displace Me," I have come to realize the selfless satisfaction that comes from helping others. I have been an integral part of Key Club and National Honor Society, serving as the Key Club Historian and encouraging other students to join as well. After earning over 150 hours of volunteerism, I can truly say that I live to serve others in order to serve myself.
