Academics
I am a senior this year and will be graduating with 30 credits and an honors diploma in May. I have a 3.6 GPA and am planning on having a minimum of a 3.7 when I graduate. My electives vary from gourmet foods to multimedia. My senior year (this year), I am a student in the Teacher's Education Exploration program. This is a program that counts for three high school credits and can give me up to seven college credits. My mornings are spent in a classroom of my choice where I observe teachers and teach students myself. I believe I have learned more this year than any other year because school has offered me an opportunity to better know myself as well as learning classroom requirements.
Community Service
I highly enjoy participating in volunteer activites. I have particpated in many small volunteer programs as well as larger ones. I was a member of Key Club for my high school for two years. For about a year, I have volunteered at Love-A-Stray cat shelter in my city. Most of my time was not spent in the actual shelter, however. I was actively taking care of 22 barn kittens who I had found in my friends barn. They were all very sick and needed immediate medical attention. I caught as many as I could and helped the shelter medicate them and find them homes. I also participate in Avon Safety Town. I have the unofficial title of Song Leader for the three weeks of Safety Town 8:30 am through 12:30 pm.
Athletics
I have participated in multiple althetics throughout my high school career. My freshman year I played volleyball and was a member of a conference winning team. My freshman and sophomore year, I played JV softball. Both years I played we had incredible records and won conference. I played softball since I was four years old and adore the sport. When I had to give up physically demanding sports because of injuries, I thought I'd never be happy again. Then I found golf. I had started my sophomore year on the club team, but was not really serious about it. Then my junior year, I found that I could still be healthy and be a part of a team with golf. My senior year I was Varisty Captain of my conference winning team. We made it to districts too!
