ATTRIBUTES
Academics
I excel greatly in the area of academics because of my GPA. I have maintained a 4.0 throughout high school while taking AP courses. This has given me the honor to be a Valedictorian of my class, along with graduating with honors and distinction. Another area academically that I excel in is my ACT score. I have a 31 composite ACT score. I am also an Oklahoma Academic All-State Qualifier. I believe academics are important, and I really do try to learn and grow through school. Additionally, I am a member of the National Honor Society, required to maintain a certain GPA.
Arts
I believe I excel in the arts. Well, I at least love the arts. I am in Advanced Art, the highest level of art offered at my high school. In 2008, I won the Outstanding Art Student award at my high school. I have also won the Ottawa County Health Department abstinence poster contest, and my work will be published on billboards and t-shirts. Additionally, my artwork has also been published in the Miami Disaster Relief Book. I have had the privilege of working with and becoming well-versed in ceramics, print-making, drawing, painting, and watercolors. However, my favorite medium is photography. Unfortunately, my high school does not offer that course, so I have explored that on my own and wish to major in photography.
Community Service
I believe I excel in the attribute of community service because of my involvement. Throughout high school, I have logged over 200 service hours. I am the secretary of National Honor Society at my school and also the Lt. Governor of my school's Key Club. Key Club is my favorite organization with which I am involved. I have completed countless service projects through Key Club. It has also given me the opportunity to head many service projects such as the collection of sports equipment to send to Rwanda and the planting of trees in our local parks. In addition to service locally, I have been on two mission trips. The first was to Mexico and the second the Rwanda and Burundi, Africa. With both of these trips I was able to serve the people.
