Arts
Since the age of 5 my love of acting has led me to be in 29 school productions, 3 professional productions and guest speaker multiple times at the County Fair. I have used my skills to teach drama and music to children at camps.
Over 150 pieces of my writing and art have been published on-line and in two books. I won 9 top awards at the San Mateo County Fair in the adult literary division. I am a featured columnist in a publisher's newsletter. I won first place in the Redwood City Pride Writing Contest.
I have been Editor-in-Chief for Amazing Kids! Magazine, an on-line monthly magazine where I edited all articles, conducted interviews, and directed each issue. In the 3 years I have volunteered, I worked directly with over 1,000 children to improve their writing and art.
Community Service
At Amazing Kids!, a nonprofit magazine, I have donated 1800 hours over 3 years to encourage literacy and writing skills in children. I have written many articles each month. I have motivated kids to read and develop their own writing skills through designing fun, creative and challenging contests, providing assistance during their writing and editing, and creating new ideas. Readership is over 800,000 a year and I worked with over 1000 kids directly.
I have been involved in my church, school and community through altar serving, working events, fundraisers and drives, selling items and soliciting donors. I have prepared and served meals at the Maple Street Homeless Shelter, donated books to Habitat for Humanity and repaired a home for a low-income elderly woman for Rebuilding Together.
Athletics
Beginning karate instruction at the age of 5, I persevered to achieve my Certified Adult Black Belt at 14. I have won numerous awards including a 1st, two 2nds, and three 3rd places at the Golden State Karate Association Open and other competitions. I still take karate instruction and apply its lessons of focus, attitude and achievement to my everyday life.
I also love archery and riflery and have obtained a Marksman rank with the National Rifle Association and 2nd Class Rank with the National Archery Association. I am a Certified Basic Archery Instructor with the National Archery Association. These sports have allowed me to use concentration, determination and mind/body connection to maintain my A average at school and to set and achieve personal goals in other areas of my life.
