ATTRIBUTES
Academics
Most people seem to excel in only one side of the brain-- for some, it is the humanities like history and English. For others, it is mathematics and scientific processes. For me, it is both. I am proficient in both analytical thinking and abstract analysis; I enjoy science and English with equal enthusiasm. I have been recognized in my school for achievement in biology as well as the AP English Language & Composition course. I have won the President's Award for Academic Achievement as well as the Smith Book Award. I am in the top 10 of my class of 250 students. I love the quest for knowledge, the search for the unknown. Only through academic achievement can that be attained.
Other Achievements
Music may seem like a very cliche attribute to attest to, but it is something I consider dear to me. I sing as a part of my school's elite choir, the Chamber Singers, as a Soprano II. Sopranos usually carry melody in a piece, however, Soprano II's help balance the higher notes with subtle harmonies. I have been nominated for All-State choir, but declined because of my academic commitments. I was a part of my school's show choir in the only year it was active (last year) in addition to the a cappella group for a year. In addition to vocal singing, I have dabbled in musical instruments such as guitar and piano. I am currently learning ukulele and furthering to develop my piano skills.
Arts
Art is more of a hobby than any real pursuit, however, I have received recognition for my artistic abilities both in and out of school. My art has been featured in local art shows as well as those annually held in the school gymnasium. I have recently been nominated and inducted into my school's Art Honor Society, able to participate in art-related community service and help spread the wonders of visual art to other beings. My preferred traditional medium is that of the colored pencil and occasionally chalk pastel. I own a tablet and am capable of photomanipulation as well as digital art in both Photoshop CS3 and Corel Painter 4. I was responsible for painting texture and detail to the set of the most recent musical at my school, "Once Upon A Mattress".
