Academics
I've always been an honor student and have strived to achieve this level. As a sophomore, I took AP US History and this year, as a junior, I'm taking 5 AP classes: Biology, Chemistry, Calculus BC, Psychology, and English Language. I've taken the SAT once and received a score of 2210. I am also the captain of our Latin Certamen Team, which competes every year at the JCL State Convention in the spring. I have also participated in National History Day and have made it to Nationals with my project on Witold Pilecki, a WWII soldier who sacrificed his life to reveal the horrors of the Jewish concentration camps. I strive to do my best in all areas of academics by working and studying hard, actively participating in class, and challenging myself to do better.
Work
Since my family owns a Taekwondo School, I, along with my parents, go to the school and work everyday. As one of the masters and instructors at our martial arts school, I help out the students and teach them not only how to execute punches and kicks, but also discipline and respect. I am also one of the managers and work to organize our students' profiles and manage the business at our school, talking to our students' parents and customers. Through our taekwondo school, I have learned to become a better entrepreneur and a more social person. I have also learned to balance my life between academics, work, and my athletics.
Athletics
I have done taekwondo for 14 years and am currently a 4th degree blackbelt. I also instruct at our taekwondo school and I strive to always do better. I am ranked first in the nation in my division and am part of the 2011 National US Taekwondo Team. This summer in July and August, I went with the rest of the members of the US Taekwondo Team to compete at the 6th Worlds Taekwondo Championships in Vladivostok, Russia. There, I placed 8th among 40 other countries, including Spain, Australia, China, and Uzbekistan. Taekwondo has helped me learn perseverance and gain an indomitable spirit in everything I do, helping me in other areas such as my academics and community service as well.
