Community Service
I started a Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) youth group the beginning for my freshman year. My goal was and continues to be to not only help the children in this system but to raise awareness about them and the GAL program in our community. I realize how fortunate I am and want to help abused, abandoned and neglected children going through our court system in the GAL program. We have two main events every year. We helped provide Christmas gifts for over 1,600 children last year who would otherwise have gone without. And, I initiated a movie fund raising event that has raised more than 15,000 to date. I am totally responsible for this event and know this next years will be even better. I was honored to be the first youth to win the State Advocacy Award for my work with the GAL program in 2010.
Athletics
Football!! I hope to Long Snap for a D1 program. Last season I was First Team SSAC All State. We had an undefeated season and won the State Championship for our conference. The previous season I won the Sophomore Leadership Award and was Honorable Mention All Area. I was the only freshman on our Varsity team and started in more than 50% of our games. I lead by example both on the field and off. I believe in commitment, accountability and responsibility. A retired NFL player once told me, you can speak your future into existence. Not only do I believe this, I think everyone can relate to it. I want to play Division 1 football. I've spoken it. Now, I will continue to work towards making it my reality. Even a hurt back will not deter me from my goals.
Academics
I am a NHS member. I was named the Peter Benedict Scholar for my senior year of high school. This award is based on exceptional scholarship, leadership and citizenship. This scholarship is the highest honor that can be bestowed by the school to a high school senior. It is awarded to one student annually and covers tuition for their senior year of high school. I feel very honored to be the Benedict Scholar this year. I was a Nestle Very Best in Youth Finalist 2011, A Prudential Spirit of Community Award Distinguished Finalist 2011, I won the President's Volunteer Service Award 2011 and the Charles F. Clark Character Award for my grade in May 2011. I found out this month that I won a $200 cash grant from the United States Achievement Academy for distinguished accomplishments.
