Other Achievements
I have been avidly involved in my high school's Future Farmers of America program since I was a freshman. Through this program I have been involved in multiple levels of leadership teams, conferences, and events, public speaking competitions, entrepreneur experiences, education about agriculture, and community service. Mentors and friends I have gained through the program have helped push me out of my comfort zone and challenge myself to succeed. However, my success in the program is worth more than the awards I've received at local, sectional, regional, and state levels; the experiences I've had, the things I've learned, the people I've met, and the confidence it's given me are worth more than all the awards i could earn in a lifetime-they are invaluable to me.
Work
Because of my goals for my education and financial struggle in my family, I realized I needed to put work toward earning money for my education. So I took all the information I had learned about applying for jobs, resumes, following up with calls, and interviewing to help myself get a job. After applying 15 places, only one set up an interview with me, and thankfully hired me. I now work at Baskin Robbins part time; fitting this into my hectic academic schedule is worth learning the realities of the work place. In addition, I participated in the FFA(Future Farmer's Of America)'s SAE program and bought a Market Lamb to raise and sell at the local fair. The experience taught me valuable like lesson's such as responsibility, record keeping, discipline, and most important, hard work.
Athletics
Having many family members who are established in athletics, it was bound to be in my blood. Growing up my parents gave me the opportunity to participate in every almost sport-tennis, soccer, dance, softball, basketball, and track. Through this I found a love for being fit and for activities that are most enjoyable for me to become so. I have played soccer for 13 years, participated in club soccer, been on my high school's varsity team since my freshman year, and am proud to say was a part of the team who won the Valley Championship for Division 3 High School Girls soccer. In addition to soccer, I have been on my high school's varsity cross country and swim teams. I have been fortunate for the success I have had in athletics, but my true motivation to participate is my passion for them.
