ATTRIBUTES
Academics
I am currently, rank one out of my class of 675 students. I have a G.P.A of a 4.0 on a weighted scale. Ever since freshmen year I took honors and AP courses. Right now, I am taking AP calculus and AP psychology. I have been on the Honor Roll and Principal List, since seventh grade. For three years, I participated in NHS a big accomplishment for me. Instead of taking fun, interactive electives, I took the initiative to take other academic classes, such as AVID and Upward Bound. For 3 years, I took a 6 week summer program on a college campus. I gained additional knowledge on subjects and guidance for my future success. I receive numerous awards for being the Most Outstanding AVID student for the 2009-2010 school year and the Most Outstanding Summer Senior Guidance student.
Community Service
One of my top priorities is to give back to my community. I like spending my free-time helping people. For years I have been apart on on-going community services. I tutor children grades second to sixth in math and reading. I work with medically fragile children, to improve their health by engaging them with multiple activities. I am part of the S2S program, where I mentor transitional students. I even volunteer as an assistant catechist, where I teach pre-school kids about Jesus. I really enjoy outdoor, gardening work, in order to beautify our environment and get in touch with our Hawaiian culture. I devote my time improving my church and being a role model to younger generations, I am the Interact club president; it is my duty to encourage my members to get involved in our community.
Other Achievements
I have always had a driven passion to play on a sports team, but being born with a heart murmur, restricted me from achieving that goal. Growing up I had watch my physical capacity, or else I will suffer health and respiratory problems. I use to discourage myself. My insecurities always held me back when I wanted to try out for the tennis and soccer team. But, then I decided to accept my condition because of encouragements and determination I gained. I realized I couldn’t make this a deciding factor for my actions. Lately, I been training my heart, I plan to try out for the soft tennis team this fall. From this experience, I learned that with commitment and motivation, there is nothing I can't pursue. That is why I strive to succeed for the best, and don’t let anything stop me.
