ATTRIBUTES
Academics
Academics are an area that I am fortunate to have been gifted in. I have been blessed with natural talent, but I also go above and beyond to push myself beyond my comfort zone by taking challenging classes. I work hard to keep my GPA above a 4.0 and I plan on carrying this work ethic on to college. I plan on filling pre-medicine requirements, so maintaining a high GPA during my undergraduate years will be imperative. A specific academic skill I excel in is writing. I have a high grade in my AP Literature Class, and am also editor-in-chief of the school newspaper. I work to illustrate my passion for writing in every piece I complete.
Athletics
During my four years in high school, I have participated in four years of cross country, three years of track and field, and two years of basketball. Although I am not the fastest girl on the team, I dedicate myself fully to the team and work hard at practice to improve each day. Right before my senior season of cross country, I reached a major goal and completed a half marathon. This allowed me to start my season strong and make the varsity line-up for a few meets. I was also chosen as a co-captain. This track season also allowed me the opportunity to run several varsity races. Although I am done with high school athletics, I am grateful for the lifelong love of running my participation has instilled in me.
Work
Ever since I began baby-sitting at the age of ten, working for my money has been a significant part of my life. I am very appreciative at the fact that my parents encouraged me to get a job at a young age. I started at a sub shop as a freshman in high school and worked there for nearly three years until the shop was closed due to financial struggles. I then worked a seasonal job at a ski resort, and when spring came I was hired at a clothing store. Although I am fairly new at this position, I have quickly adapted to balancing school, sports, and working several hours a week. The job skill I most excel at is communicating with people. I love talking to and helping people, and this skill will help me in the future when I begin my career.
