ATTRIBUTES
Academics
I am currently ranked 1 of my class of around 500 students. I am also an IB Diploma candidate. I have taken Honors, AP, Dual Enrollment, and IB classes throughout my high school career. I also have maintained straight A's throughout all of high school and have a 5.04 weighted GPA and a 4.0 unweighted GPA. I also have taken the AP World History Exam and scored a 5. Recently, I took the AP Calc 1 exam. I like furthering my education outside of school through summer programs. I am a participant in the Math-Science Honors Program at Arizona State University, which is a rigorous and selective program. Last summer, I earned college credit for a 5-week Pre-Calculus course, and this summer, I plan to go back and take Calc II for 8 weeks. I also take on-line classes to further my education.
Community Service
I have been volunteering at the local library since I was in 8th grade. I volunteered with the Summer Reading Program for two years and am now an adult volunteer. I am an active participant in volunteer organizations, such as NHS and Teen Action Council. Through these organizations, I have volunteered at numerous fund-raising events. I have also participated in Park Clean-Ups for both Teen Action Council and Wildlife Club. I have also tutored kids through Education for Youth Club, which is a club that my friend and I founded our sophomore year of high school. I also am currently working on an education program that would help 8th graders and underclassmen with the transition to high school. Also, I am volunteering to help design a historical exhibit of the AFUHS district office.
Other Achievements
During my sophomore year, my friend and I founded Education for Youth Club. Our club's goal is to act as a tool for students who need help with their academics or extra-curricular activities. We are planning to mentor at-risk students. Also, I have served as Vice President of Wildlife Club (11th, 12th). Also, I served as Mu Alpha Theta Secretary and plan to be Secretary again next year. I have also been elected to be Treasurer for FBLA next year. I am also an Ambassador of NSHSS and have participated in NSHSS competitions. Since junior year, I have been involved in Scholastic Bowl, competing in a trivia-based quiz bowl. On top of all this, I work as a math tutor at Kumon. I have won many awards, such as 1st and 3rd place at FBLA state and 5th place in a district wide math competition.
