ATTRIBUTES
Athletics
I played baseball my 9th and 10th grade year. I pitched several wins as a sophomore as well as playing first base. I played basketball my freshman and sophomore and was named MVP my freshman year. I have played football for the past 4 years. I played jr varsity my sophomore year and was a member of the varsity squad my junior and senior year. I suffered a concussion my senior year so didn't play as much as I wanted. But I have been offered a walk-on position as an offensive lineman to play at Kansas State University and will begin there in the summer of 2011. I am looking for some scholarship help because walk on players are not offered schoarships up front. I feel I have a lot to offer in leadership and heart.
Community Service
In 9th grade, I was a mentor to the younger kids at the junior high. I helped them learn about the school, the rules, how to get involved and to always ask questions of the teachers. I have been in scouting since 2nd grade and last April, I achieved the rank of Eagle. My project was to update the landscape at my junior high. I spent over 250 hours in preparation, creating a project book, getting the work days and helpers scheduled and finally completing the project. I learned how to work with all kinds of people, create a budget, create a detailed plan of action, give leadership and direction to others, teach safety, share new skills, and get lots of satisfaction from a job well done.
Work
I have always worked for my self. Since about the 5th grade I have had a lawn mowing business. In the beginning I mowed lawns in the neighborhood. As I got older I got more lawns to mow and once I could drive, my dad let me borrow his truck. I was using a more commercial sized mower and was able to have customers that were also in nearby neighborhoods. Besides mowing and edging the lawns, I also did some landscaping, mulching, leaf pick up in the fall and even snowblowing in winter. It's always been a flexible means to make money because it allows me to still have time to pursue my academics and outside school activities as well as my scouting activities.
