Academics
I am enrolled in 4 Pre AP (Chemistry, Pre- Calculus, French, and English) classes and 1 AP (World History) class currently as well as a art and health science and technology class. I have been an all A and one B honor roll the past year and before that an A honor roll student. I have won the principle's award during my 9th grade year. During the summer I participated in the Houston Works STEM program where I received an invitation to a science research competition called the E2 - Engineering Excellence Competition where it would be held in mid-February. I have participated in the 2011 ISEF (International Science and Engineering Fair) presenting a group project on dye-sensitized solar cells.
Athletics
Since 2004, I have been doing wushu, a Chinese modern martial arts. I know how to use numerous weapons like a sword, staff, spear, etc. and perform many different styles like animal, northern and southern forms. Not only have I learned many of these styles, but I have been able to successfully train and coach other students fight scenes, group forms and basics in order for their own benefits as well as for performances. I have participated in many competitions, recently winning three 1st places in CMAT 2008, 1st place in CMAT 2011, two 4th place and one 3rd place in the 2011 National Wushu Senior Tryouts.
Community Service
In the community, my participation has taken place in various, diverse places. In the Houston Museum of Science, I invested over 100 hours last summer as well as this summer and received the volunteer of the week award. Along with that, I have volunteered to help and perform in many special day events like Chinese New Years where I would present a wushu demonstration or the traditional lion dancing. There was also the Vietnamese Veterans day where I participated and aided the preparations of the parade. I have also participated as a volunteer during the 2010 HOSA Area competition where I was the judge, assistant, and simulated patient.
