ATTRIBUTES
Arts
For 18 years my life has revolved around music. I currently study voice, piano, and guitar; as well as music theory. I like a variety of different genres ranging from jazz to musical theatre. At the age of 13 I began performing around the Michigan area. I took any gig I could get weather a coffee house, concert; paid or not. When I entered high school I got involved in the plays and musicals; performing in 7 different shows. Along with performing and playing I also write and compose. At the age of 16 I recorded my first album, containing 11 of my original songs. I continue to write, sing, and perform; and hope to achieve a successful career in music!
Community Service
When my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer my family and I discovered an amazing fundraiser called "Race for the Cure"; a 3 mile walk towards curing breast cancer. We have been involved with the Susan G. Komen foundation for about 6 years now and walk the 3 miles annually. I also became involved in the non-Hodgkin's lymphoma society's "Light the Night" walk after friend was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma at a young age of 15. Every Christmas morning my family and I go down to the Ronald McDonald house and cook breakfast for the families with children in the hospital. I love helping out my community and those in need!
Other Achievements
At age 11, I was diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa. My low confidence disease strung out over a span of 2 years; and would have gone further had it not been for my friends and family. I had no confidence in myself and always felt insecure. Overcoming this disease has made me the person I am today; a confident head-strong young woman. Insecurity is a phase most of us go through. We should never be forced to face it alone. I have made it my goal to lend a helping hand to anyone who needs it. Life is too short to be anyone but yourself; and you should never feel that you're not good enough, or pretty enough, or skinny enough.
