Other Achievements
Overcoming obstacles has always been a necessity ever since I was young. When I was four years old, I lost my father to cancer. This took a lot of adjusting to get on the right track, but it has made me so much stronger personally and educationally. During my entire high school career so far i have had a GPA at or higher than 3.8. i have been on the honor roll and I am currently taking Advance Placement courses at my school. I plan on becoming a nurse in Pediatric Oncology so i can use the strength I have built over the years to help children and there families cope with the fight against cancer. I believe that everyone could use a helping hand and I would love a career where helping people with an understanding is possible.
Arts
I am in theater, orchestra, show choir, and dance at my high school. I have been in choir for six years and I am in a choir consisting of thirty-two students that are chosen through an audition process. Last year I received the Musician of the Year award that only one person from each grade receives. I have played the cello in the orchestra since I was in the fifth grade. Also, I have been on the schools dance team for three years. one year on junior varsity and two years on varsity. During my time on the dance team we have taken first in many competitions setting a good named for our school. Lastly, I have recently expanded my interests of the arts into our schools theater program. We recently did a show of the Sound of Music.
Community Service
I have been very involved in the community and those around me. Most of my services go through my church in which I volunteer in the coffee bar, the worship ministry, and the children's ministry. A month I spend about 18 hours during such jobs through my church. Also, I have recently gotten involved in a local Children's Food Basket where we prepare lunches for students whose families cannot afford to supply themselves with dinner every night. I also have been volunteering through our schools National Honors Society. I have helped out through tutoring and helping teachers in their classrooms.
