Community Service
I am establishing the first MN Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers Jr. Chapter that will grant others the opportunity to excel in the STEM fields and gain early college-prep resources.I have attained sponsorship from the Univ. of MN and plan on kick-off in Jan '11. This chapter is also the culmination of my 10-year Girl Scout career by being my Gold Award. Moreover, I'm an officer in my school's Nat'l Honor Society and I have been able to coordinate 2 blood drives to support the Minneapolis area and an Operation Christmas Child drive. Moreover, I have been a volunteer in the school district since 2006 helping ESL students transition into the public school system. I believe that little by little, I can make a big difference!
Academics
I hold a 4.0 GPA and 2 academic letters. I am an Honors/AP student and by the end of my junior I will have exhausted all the math courses available at my school. Through hard work and dedication I was able to earn a 31 on my ACT. As a freshman, I was awarded the Mathematics Departmental Award and to enrich my passion for math, I participate in Math League and have received a Varsity letter and All-Conference Honorable Mention. This year, I am the treasurer and member of the Varsity team. Due to excellence in academics, I was invited to the HOBY seminar, and programs at Texas A&M & Univ. of MI. My accomplishment haven't come easy but I refuse to give up and live by the standard that I will always give my best and show excellence.
Arts
"No music, no life. Know music, know life." For me, music is passion and I am in my 3rd year of private cello instruction. In this time, I have performed at Orchestra Hall & Univ of MN, among others. In the Solo &Ensemble competition, I received a 40/40 and a Best-at-Site Award. Moreover, I received the Nat'l School Orch. Assoc. Student of the Year Award (9th) and the Varsity Orch. Leadership Award (10th). I now play in the GTCYS Symphony and I am in a chamber music program with the St.Paul Chamber Orch. Also,for the past 4 years, I've been a music minister and teen instrument leader where I can combine my talent on the cello with my passion for helping others by bringing youth closer to music &faith so that they also can learn to know l
