Academics
I was never the smartest person in my school and I can say that I have never taken an AP or an Enriched class before. But, I have always tried my hardest in school by going in for help and studying hard and to prove that it paid off, I have received a Spanish Academic Award and an Science Academic Award in Biology for going in for help and participating in both of those classes. And my Junior Year in High School, I applied to the National Honor Society whih requires a GPA above a 3.75 and over 40 hours of community service. School can be hard for me at times but I entered in with a GPA of 3.8 and over 400 hours of community service since the beginning of my freshman year and I got accepted!
Community Service
Through my church and my school, I do a lot of volunteering and community service. At my church, I have done "Feed My Starving Children" where we pack food that gets sent to 3rd world countries and the food is able to digest in their stomach's safely. I also teach "Liturgy of the Word" to children during mas on Sunday mornings. At school, I am part of Key Club which is a group where we do service projects and during my Sophomore year, I received an award for having over 30 hours of service as of January. I am also part of the Nationl Honor Society at my school which requires over 40 hours of community service and above a 3.75 GPA and I entered in with over 400 hours of community service since the beginning of my freshman year.
Work
Since the beginning of my freshman year, I have taught swimming lessons through the Park District. Most people don't like teaching swimming lessons and quit after the session is done but I always enjoyed it, so I continued. I am now going to be a senior in high school and I am still teaching. It alawys makes me happy when I teach a child and then they pass up to the next level. I am able to teach every level (7 of them) and sometimes I hae 4 or 5 children to teach when I usually have 2 or 3. As my other job, I lifegurd for special needs children during an open swim and during swim lessons and the children are always so happy to be swimming, it makes me smile.
