Academics

I excel in academics because I am disciplined and organized. My GPA is a solid 4.0, and I have been on the High Honor Roll since 6th grade. I keep my schoolwork very organized, and I also keep a planner where I write down upcoming deadlines and events. I am passionate about learning, espeically in the fields of English and History. I took AP History my junior year and was among the few students who passed the grueling test. I have learned that asking for help when stuck in a class is invaluable--not only did I understand the material better, but I developed a deeper relationship with my teacher. I believe in going the extra mile when it comes to education because knowledge is essential to a successful future.

I have also been heavily involved in leadership positions during my years in high school. I wrote an essay on leadership that won me a spot at the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Conference during my sophomore year. There, I learned and refined leadership skills such as teamwork, vision, and organization. Since that conference, I have served as National Honor Society president, Youth President, Seminary Class President, Youth Camp Leader, and Seminary Council Member during my junior year. I am looking forward to serving again as NHS President and Seminary Council Member my senior year. I plan to carry on what I have I learned from my previous leadership positions into my future, and ultimately use my skills to lead our nation's youth.

Community Service
Community Service

I have been heavily involved in community service in the past year. I served as the National Honor Society President at my high school, and my duty was to plan and carry out at least two service projects per month. An example of one of the service projects was that we served at the Food and Care Coalition every first Thursday in Provo. We helped prepare meals, serve trays, and clean up the facility where homeless and struggling families went for relief. Other projects were Sub for Santa, a Valentine's Day Dance with the senior citizens, making blankets for the local hospital, reading books to children during Dr. Seuss Day, caroling at the local Beehive Resting home, and much more! Making a difference in the community was rewarding to me.
