ATTRIBUTES
Arts
Arts

Art has been a passion of mine for as long as I recall. Hidden in the depths of my bedroom I have spent my evenings drawing. In the Summer of 2009, I was lucky enough to attend pre-college at the Rhode Island School of Design, my dream school. There I studied art and design in an intense college setting for six weeks. At the end of the month and a half I returned with many lovely pieces for my portfolio and an extensive knowledge of all things art. This year, I enrolled in my first art class, joined the art club, and headed off to the Visual Arts Scholastic Events in my region, where I received the highest rating for my piece. Now, I intend to major in Graphic Design. My portfolio can be found at amandadeering.carbonmade.com

Technology
Technology

Though art is my number one, technology has always followed as a close second. At a young age, I began dabbling in all things technology- CSS, HTML, and a vague bit of Java Script. As the time went on, my interest transferred from web design to graphic design, and so did my skills. I began delving into Photoshop, endlessly editing pieces of art, and enhancing my lighting to just the right setting on my photos. Now, I continue to wear out my Wacom Intuos 3 tablet and my beloved iMac, as I continue designing and even blogging in my spare time.

Academics
Academics

Enrolling in all AP and Honors classes possible, I have done my best to challenge myself intellectually. I am currently ranked within the top 5% of my class, and have recently received my Collegeboard AP test results back: a 3 in both United States History and English Language. Next year, my class schedule is jam-packed with more AP tests. This year, I was also inducted into the National Honor Society at my high school, for maintaining at least a 98 GPA and showing outstanding character and self-motivation. Even though I am a member of my high school's marching band, I have managed to keep my grades up in between daily after school rehearsals, football games, and UIL competitions.
