I am a Spoken Word artist/ Poet. I have been writing poetry since i was 12 years old but began to perform at various venues at age 15. My first performances consisted of small talent shows and Open Mic Nights. I won 2nd place at a local poetry slam which encouraged me to submit poetry to local based contests. This past June I was chosen to perform along side well-known local artists in a showcase, "Quest to Madrid" to help raise money to send the youth of my church to World Youth Day 2011 in Madrid, Spain.
Other Achievements
For the past three years i have been apart of the Milpitas Naval Junior Officer Training Corps. (NJROTC) Unit. In 2009 and 2010, I withheld the position of Executive then later Commanding Officer of the Unarmed Drill Team and won multiple titles at various drill meets competing against other JROTC Units in the Bay Area. Of which includes 1st and 2nd place trophies in the unarmed regulation drill categories. I now hold the rank of Cadet Lieutenant Junior Grade. I was awarded two JROTC medals from the Daughters of the American Revolution and Veterans of Foreign Wars
Community Service
For the past three summers i have been helping Rancho Milpitas Middle School, during the preparation for the upcoming school year registration and orientation process. This summer i helped my high school also prepare for registration by coming to the office in a total of 40+ hours. This past Summer, i had volunteered at a Summer Enrichment Program for children ages 5-12 and was a teacher 's aide for the Earth-Friendly art class. While working at the Summer program for 6 weeks and accumulating 96 hours of community service, I was voted Kids Choice: Favorite Teacher Assistant at the end of both 3 week sessions.
