Academics
Academics rank among my most important values. I have dreamed of becoming a doctor since I was young, and I realize that excelling in school is important in achieving this goal. During the past two years, I have taken 5 AP classes, and earned a 5 on all the tests. I will be taking another 5 this upcoming year, and aim to do just as well. Nevertheless, I have maintained a high GPA of 3.9, with a weighted GPA of 4.6.
I also earned a 2030 on my first time taking the SAT, and was accepted into National Merit Scholars with my PSAT score of 204. I completed an Independent Research class, where I researched individually the "Effect of Internal Environmental Policies on Local Small Businesses". Due to all my achievements, I was accepted into NHS.
Green
As president of my school's SAVE (Students Against Violating the Earth) club, I demonstrate my commitment to making Earth a cleaner and more enjoyable place to live. This club is active in the school and since I have joined, has undertaken several new projects. While we continue to collect paper and plastic bottles to recycle, we also have started collecting ink cartridges to be recycled. This past year we held our first Earth Day Celebration, in which we had informative display boards completed by science classes, organized a skit with the help of the drama department, and invited several speakers to present to our fellow students. In the upcoming year we hope to revive our SAVE garden to provide food for the local community.
Other Achievements
I am very active within both my school and my community. I am currently completing my Eagle Project, for which I developed two geocache trails to benefit the Laurel Historical Society. I hope to earn my Eagle rank within the next couple months, before my senior year begins. I also swim year round (4-5 days a week; 2.5 hour practices) with a club, GBSA and have A standard times. I have swum with them since 8th grade.
Additionally, within my school, I participate in the Orchestra and am captain of the swim club. I have played the cello since I was in 3rd grade and learned viola in my sophomore year. As for swim club, I have been a member since it was first created in my freshman year. My passion for swimming has driven me to help others.
