ATTRIBUTES
Academics
I have been on the honor roll for the past 4 years, in the top 5% of my class, with a GPA of over 4.6, an ACT composite of 34, and a total SAT score of 2260. For my senior year, I took one AP class and five IB classes, including four that were IB Higher Level (although you only have to test in three.) My only non-advanced course was an Engineering and Practical Science class to help give me experience in the field of my expected major, and my projects constantly set the curve for the rest of the class. I have never taken a partial absence, used a study hall class, or been a teacher's assistant; my schedule has always been completely filled with the most challenging courses, including taking one at night.
Faith
I am actively involved with the student-led Student Worship Ministry at my church. I play keyboards and help to lead worship for the middle-schoolers and high-schoolers on Sunday mornings several times a month, and dedicate more than 5 hours a week to rehearsals and Bible Study with the rest of the worship team. I also co-founded a weekly prayer meeting before school with a few other classmates, and woke up early to pray for our school, our friends, and teachers. We vowed to meet every week no matter what, and so we often found ourselves huddled around the flagpole in the snow and freezing temperatures.
Community Service
I have been giving back to the community every year since I can remember. Most recently, I volunteered an hour and a half of my time each week to help a struggling elementary school student learn to read and gain confidence to read out loud. Furthermore, I am a member of the National Honor Society and have worked with my school organization to donate our time and money to our school, neighborhood, and community. This included clean-up days at the park and serving the teachers at conferences. I also volunteer at the local middle school's Summer Band Camp, and do housekeeping as well as mentor and teach younger students in music and help them gain the skills and confidence needed to play an instrument.
