Academics
I currently have a 3.87 GPA, and I have been enrolled in the gifted high school program all four years of high school. Through this program, I earned my IB Diploma a year early, scoring 37 out of 45 points. I am also a national AP Scholar, scoring fours or fives on my last ten AP tests. On my ACT, I received a composite score of 36.
I am also a curious learner who is constantly questioning the world, and I love to learn new things. Even in my senior year, I am taking three AP courses, two college classes, and at the same time doing an internship with a non-profit organization. I really enjoy following new advancements in the sciences, and will likely major in neuroscience when I attend Amherst College next fall.
Athletics
Sports has always been a way for me to challenge myself and test my limits. I have been a varsity cross country runner all four years of high school. My running career highlight was when our team took first in our district and advanced to the state tournament.
In addition, I have also been a varsity wrestler since my sophomore year. Through wrestling, I have learned about how my body and my mind work together, as well as pushing myself to my limits. My best experience wrestling was competing at the state tournament, where I took 4th in the state of Washington after five extremely difficult matches. I am also a wrestling team captain, and I am a leader and a positive inspiration both on and off the mat.
Community Service
Helping others has always been a joy for me. Ever since I was in 2nd grade, I have been a Boy Scout. Through scouting, I have done countless hours of community service, ranging from maintaining trails to organizing food drives. I recently earned my Eagle Scout award, where I planned and organized a fence construction project that required over $2,000 dollars and 110 hours.
In addition to scouting, I also volunteer at the Jubilee REACH center, a non-profit community center that takes care of low-income children. I really enjoy working with the kids there, supporting them in every way possible. My favorite part is working one on one with the kids and developing relationships, whether I'm helping them with homework or teaching them guitar.
