Academics
Working hard in school is very important to me because it provides me opportunities to be successful in my future. I am in the top 1% of my class with a GPA of 4.46. I was honored as a Commended Scholar by my score on the PSAT, and scored a 2190 on my SAT. I am currently taking three AP classes and one honors class, and I will have taken the highest number of AP classes in my graduating class. I am a member of the National Honors Society, the National Social Studies Honors Society, and the National French Honors Society. I was also recognized by the College Board as an AP Scholar for my high scores on AP tests in previous years. Not only do I think dedication to academics is important, but I genuinely enjoy learning and always am curious to learn more.
Community Service
Community service is a commitment I find essential. I have devoted much of my time to the organization I founded with a friend 9 years ago called Fuzzies, which donates fleece blankets to children in need. Fuzzies is a registered 501-c3 organization that has given blankets to over 10 charities in the Denver Metro Area. We have been sponsored by Ouray Sportswear and recognized by Young Americans Bank as an outstanding organization. Along with Fuzzies, I have become very committed to volunteering with an non-profit titled Children's Future International. By leading a club at school that has partnered with CFI, I have been able to educate fellow students about the poverty and human trafficking in Southeast Asia, and to help CFI achieve its goal of educating low-income children in Cambodia.
Work
As a server for Occasions by Sandy's Catering, I have worked over three hundred hours in the past nine months. I work about twice every three weeks, and often on eight hour shifts or more. I have served food at weddings, dinner parties, debutante balls, and various other occasions. I enjoy my work because it has taught me a lot about working hard and time management. Often in my job we have periods of a couple hours that are extremely busy, where you do not have time to pause for breath. Through these instances, I have learned the value of diligence and efficiency, which are attributes that I have tried to carry into the rest of my life. My commitment to my job has resulted in many new life lessons learned.
