Academics
I exceed in Academics because I came to the United States 6 years ago not knowing a single English word. My first English sentence was "Can I go to the restroom?" Now I am ranked as number 52 in my graduating class with a GPA of 4.76. I am currently taking 5 AP classes and have been taking AP classes ever since I entered Highschool. I manage to due well in academics while still juggling the stress of volunteering and extra- curricular activities.
6 years ago, I would have never imagined that I would be doing so well in school. I love coming to school and learning. My favorite classes are TV production and science classes (chemistry, biology, environmental). Those classes are what motivate me to study medicine and Broadcast Journalism in college.
Community Service
I think that a great student has to be well balanced. Volunteering is one of the most important things a student can invest in in High school. I currently have over 230 hrs of community service from volunteering at local hospitals, managing elementary school events, and helping out at charity events. I have recently started spending my time in hospitals helping the nurses and doctors take care of the patients. I decided to volunteer at hospitals because I wanted to receive more exposure in a medical field. But, the favorite community service that I have done must be volunteering at the annual JDRF Diabetes Walk at the University of Central Florida. It is such a great organization and really does make a difference in the lives of the sick and their families. Volunteering is very rewarding.
Arts
The arts have always been a huge part of my life throughout High school. I have taken part in various theatrical plays and musicals ranging from our award winning one- act "Oedipus Rex" to one of the funniest musicals, "Urinetown." Drama has taught me how to be more aware of other people and how to treat others. It has played a major role in shaping me to the person I am now: an outgoing and driven student. Our Performing Arts Center is my second home because of how much time I spend in there rehearsing and building sets. I spend so much time here, I sometimes stress myself out too much. But I do not regret it one bit. The friends and the art form I have achieved in there are priceless.
