ATTRIBUTES
Community Service
I have been a proud Girl Scout for 12 years. Every year we volunteer at Akron Children's Hospital, and help out around our community. Most recently I have earned my Bronze Award, which I help with children during a celebration of our community. I earned my Silver Award where I made craft bags for the ill children in the hospital. As of now, I am working on my Gold Award. I made a video about bullying and how to help the victims. I showed it to a local school, and I plan to travel and show it to more. The Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards are the three highest awards for a Girl Scout. I am also in NHS at my School, I work at Blood Drives, The Boys and Girls Club, and volunteer at my school. I just want change 1 life, help 1 person, change the thoughts of 1 person and I will be happy for it.
Academics
Every year I have tried my hardest to earn the best possible grade I could. It started in 3rd grade with a program that more school called Enchanted Program, where 8 students were taken out of classes that no longer challenged them and were put into 4th grade classes. Before I even started 9th grade I already earned two high school credits, Spanish and math. Once I was in high school I challenged myself no matter what. I made sure that I got an A in the classes meant for my age. I did take upper level classes, math, and English Looking back, my 11th grade year I got a 4.0, now in 12th grade I am in PSEO at the University of Akron, I have taken Pre-Calc, Comp 1, and Psych, all of which I was sure to be challenged. I know in the future that I can challenge myself and do well.
Other Achievements
Over the four years in my high school career I have hit many hardships. The summer of my 9th grade year i was in and out of the hospital with a chronic illness that later required removal of an organ. In 2010 I had a reconstruction surgery on my ankle due to Sinus Tarsi Syndrome. This surgery turn over a new leaf in my life, the surgery gave me a chronic syndrome known as RSD/CRPS, where my nerves constantly send pain signals to my brain. This makes me deal with terrible pain daily, which soon held me back from playing soccer, which I loved to do. In 2011 I had another where a screw was removed, I just got worse. However, I forced myself to go to school everyday, get a 4.0 grade average and try to be a normal student. Pain has held me back, but it can't break my spirit and can't break me.
