Academics
Since my Freshman year of high school I have been pushing myself to take classes that will challenge me. Sophomore year I took AP Biology and AP World History. My junior year I took AP United States History, AP English Language and Composition, and AP Economics. This year my senior year I am taking AP Statistics and AP United States Government.
Along with taking challenging classes I am also studying one of the more difficult languages my school has to offer which is Japanese. For 3 years starting in Sophomore year I have excelled being one of the top students in my class. This year
I had a little bit of a scheduling conflict so I was unable to fit my Japanese language into my daily class schedule. However, I spoke to the teacher and I'm now taking the class independently.
Athletics
Since the 8th grade I have participated in both my club and high school swim team. After swimming for my club team for only a year I won the "Most improved" award followed by the "Most Inspirational" award the following year. For my high school team I swim Butterfly on our team's A relay and helped our team become District champs for 3 years in a row. I was nominated as the team captain this year by the coach. He explained why I was nominated in an interview in the school newspaper saying I was nominated for "his leadership in the pool and encouraging nature to the rest of his teammates."My hard work in the pool showed when I went to the WA state competition both my sophomore and junior year of high school. This year I am helping and encouraging my teammates so they may qualify for state.
Arts
One of my favorite extracurricular activities that I participate in is our high school concert and marching band. I play the Alto saxophone and when I am ranked as 3rd chair overall of all 13 saxophones in our band for my skills and perfection of various techniques. Outside of our performances and rehearsals the band members elect certain students to plan and organize various events and activities for the band as a whole. I was elected Band Vice president to assist the president in planning of various activities such as the holiday parties and band gatherings. To help support our band I am running a fundraiser to help pay for students to travel with us on years we tour to Southern California or Florida to perform in Disneyland or Disney World.
