Academics
Academics has been one of my highest priorities since kindergarten and still is. I don't settle for mediocre work, I believe that nothing is given to you in life and that you have to work hard for everything. I strive for success and am very proud of all that I have accomplished in the past four years of high school. Right now, I have a 3.96 non-weighted GPA, a 4.4 weighted GPA, and I am currently ranked twelfth in my senior class of about 350 students. My top score in the ACT is a 28(non-comp) and in the SAT a 1840(comp). I challenge myself by taking Advanced Placement and honors courses and have passed three AP Exams so far. I hope to continue my education at the University of Florida, working to graduate with a major in biomedical sciences, and then continue on to become a veterinarian.
Athletics
For the past 4 years I have dedicated myself to my high school volleyball program. I have gone through this sport with the mind set of not needing to be the best on the team, but needing to be my best self and player by improving every year. I started playing volleyball as a freshman, making the Freshmen team; then as a sophomore, I improved and became a captain on the JV team. As a junior, I continued to improve, earning a spot on the Varsity team and by the end of the season, my team and I were 2011 Florida Class 5A Volleyball State Champions. This past season I became a starter and leader on the Varsity team and by the end of it, my team and I were the 2012 Florida Class 5A Volleyball State Runner Up. I have loved the past four years and the memories and friends that I have gained.
Community Service
As of October 7, 2012, I have completed 106 community service hours from the past four years of high school. These activities include participating in National Honor Society events, being a team leader for my group at Relay for Life: The American Cancer Society, volunteering at the Brevard Humane Society, being a two year Mustang Round Up Freshmen Orientation Leader at my high school, as well as being an academic tutor and volleyball camp counselor at my high school. I plan to continue participating in community service in my city through more National Honor Society events as well as volunteering at various organizations. Volunteering has been a huge part of my high school life and has made me closer with my community.
