ATTRIBUTES
Arts
For me, being an Artist is so much more than holding a pencil. It's a way of life. Art is one of the only things that can be truly yours alone. I participate in Pantomime in Speech & Drama where I received 1st in my division and 5th place at the state competition my sophomore year. This year, I placed 1st at all 5 meets that I wet to, second in division and 8th for state. I have played the trombone for 7 years and am an active leader in our school's band and choir. I find strength in art. My artwork fills the halls of our school and walls of local competitions. A couple years ago, my mother was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. I found that the arts helped me keep a level head through a rough time. Now I strive to help, and teach, others to find beauty and stability in their own art.
Academics
"Stuck between a rock and a hard place." Sometimes I believe that old saying describes my life perfectly.even when I was young I understood the situation my family was in. Money was always tight, either there was just enough or we'd all pitch in to make sure that there was enough. When I reached school level I knew that good grades were vital to get me where I wanted to be. We started a small fund for the college of my choice, but when Mom got cancer, I pitched in, like always. We sold our ranch and moved to a new home. I currently stay at a friends house during the week so that I can go to the school that I think will help me achieve my goals. I have been on the honor roll every year since 7th grade, am in a battle for valedictorian, I maintain a 3.96 GPA and tutor those who need help.
Other Achievements
For my third achievement, I'm going to go off the book and choose "unlikely leadership." Now, you may be thinking something along the lines of "huh?" but hear me out. I've found that no matter how "stuck between a rock and a hard place" you are, there is always a way to shine, be heard, achieve and be the sturdy shoulder for others who may need it. I'm a 2 year member of National Honor Society and the Varsity volleyball team. I am the Representative for our Student Council and present the student made policies to higher power. I am a member of the Student Advisory Board for the state of Montana, was class president 8th grade and Freshman year and I am currently 2012-2013 FFA Reporter. I'm also a strong leader in band, choir, and Speech & Drama. I strive to help others find their place too.
