Athletics
I've played many sports throughout my high school education. I was on the swim team and tennis team for one year, I ran cross country for two years, and I ran track and field for three years. Out of all of the sports I've played, I had a passion for track. Beginning in freshman year I have been on my school’s varsity track and field team. We practice every day after school during the spring season for several hours. The long practices in the heat pay off at the track meets. I've received over fifteen medals for placing in long jump, triple jump, or the 4x100 relay. My greatest accomplishments are for placing first in the 2010 regional championship for long jump, and placing sixth at the 2012 state championship for long jump. I plan to continue running track after I graduate high school.
Academics
Although I enjoy spending a lot of my time with my athletics, I still make time for academics. My grades are my first priority. Since freshman year I have been taking Advanced Placement Classes. Currently I am taking AP Calculus and AP Statistics. In addition to the AP classes I have also taken courses at my community college for dual credit. I took Macroecomomics and American Politics over the summer and am currently taking English 101 and English 102 this school year. I have a weighted GPA of 4.00 and am in the top 8% of about 800 students. I have also received the academic award for honor roll all four years throughout high school. I scored a 24 on the ACT and I know it’s not the best score, so I’ve been studying hard to retake it in February for a better score.
Other Achievements
I've been a member of the Casa Grande FFA chapter since my freshman year. My junior year I took part in the Career Development Education competition with three other members of my chapter and we won first place at district and state. I raise six chickens for my Supervised Agriculture Activity. I won two Proficiency Awards for Poultry Production at the chapter level. Other than FFA, I am a member of the Pride of Casa Grande Marching Band. I play flute and piccolo, and have performed the 2009 show Escape and the 2012 show Out of Nowhere. This year we marched at the Fiesta Bowl which was a great honor for our band as we take marching band very serious. I am also a part of Mu Alpha Theta and the hiking club. This year I will hike the Grand Canyon. Only the best were invited to go on this hike.
