ATTRIBUTES
Academics
I am currently enrolled in AP and college credit classes and have taken advanced English and science classes throughout high school. I have maintained a 3.78 GPA and plan to graduate with honors, completing a total of 11 honors classes (Wind Ensemble (two times), Jazz Ensemble (three times), French 3 (College Credit), French 4 (College Credit), Oceanic Science, Advanced American Literature, AP Environmental Science, and AP English Literature). I plan to take the AP tests at the end of the school year. Last year I received an academic letter.
Arts
I have been involved in band for a total of six years now, and will continue through the rest of high school. I've played clarinet, alto saxophone, bass clarinet, and tenor saxophone. Currently I am lead tenor in my high school's Jazz Ensemble. I participated in Wind Ensemble for two years, attending all of the required events. These events included playing for the Willamette National Cemetery's Memorial Day Service both years, having dedicated attendance for playing in pep band at home football and basketball games, our tour to the Heritage Festival in San Francisco, and Chamber Recitals every year. For Jazz Ensemble I have attended all Big Band Dances that we do twice a year to fund-raise to tour to Reno for the Jazz Festival. I attended the 2011 Jazz Festival with the Jazz Ensemble.
Community Service
I have completed a total of four weeks as a Student Leader for the MESD Outdoor School. The Outdoor School presents a conservation-based earth science curriculum for 6th graders all around the Portland Metro area. I plan to complete my fifth week this spring, teaching about Plants. The Outdoor School takes place at camps, so I am also a Camp Counselor as well as a teacher. Around the Holidays, I spent a few of my nights preparing gift boxes for families at an organization in a neighboring town, called Christmas for Kids. I have volunteered at this organization five years (2006, 08, 09, 10, 11). I have also volunteered for the Canned Food Drive three years during high school -- freshman year with my French class and junior and senior year caroling with other band members.
