Academics
All throughout elementary school, I excelled in science and math.My freshman year consisted of getting straight A’s. My Sophomore year I took my first AP class – AP Environmental Science. During that year, I was student of the month and made academic all-conference for Golf. In junior year, I took more rigorous courses such as AP Psychology, AP Biology, Honors Anatomy and Physiology, Honors Chemistry, and Honors Pre-Calculus. On Academic awards night, I received the Future Scientist Award, the award for the top science student in the entire school. Later in my junior year, I was inducted into Spanish Honor Society. So far in senior year, I have been inducted into Math Honor Society/Mu Alpha Theta and National Technical Honor Society.
Athletics
I made my school’s soccer team seventh and eighth grade year. My involvement in sports, and being captain, helped me learn time management and acquire leadership skills. Sophomore Year, I decided to play golf competitively after playing since the age of nine. I made the varsity golf team and have been playing for the school since then. I also started playing for a travel team for soccer called Triangle Futbol club. With that club team we made it to the semi-finals for the state tournament.
Junior year I made the varsity soccer team at my school and got a varsity letter. We made it to the first round of play-offs.
Senior year in Golf I was two strokes away from going to Pinehurst. I was also named captain of the team.
Community Service
The summer before my freshman year, I traveled to Honduras (my mother’s home country) to build houses and help less fortunate people in any way possible. This made me very aware of how lucky I am to live in the United States and have all these great opportunities. Outside of school, I volunteered in Soup Kitchens and gave care packages to the homeless in Moore Square, Raleigh.I participated in Lunch Buddies, which was a program where students would eat with the special education students once every two to three weeks. Those students taught me so much and always knew how to make me smile. Through HOSA I helped run the three REX blood drives at my high school with my co-advisor. Outside of school, I participated with the Meals on Wheels organization and Relay for Life organization.
