I am an officer on my drill team at Lehi High school this year. This was a tough year to be an officer because our first coach quit, we lost seven team members, and our current coach is in the process of being fired for excessive tardiness. Because of all this, it's hard for the team to keep a positive attitude, or even come to practice in the first place. They have no confidence in themselves or in the coach. This is where I come in. I am very careful about what I say so that everything that comes out is positive. I also text the girls to keep them smiling and I bring in treats and motivating quotes. Since our coach was never on drill herself, a lot of the events fall on me too. I organize performances, socials, and meetings. Not to mention, I perform in them myself! But I'm not quitting.
Faith
Until recently, I served as the secretary for my class in my church. As secretary I took role, attended extra meetings, and visited girls who came to church infrequently. Besides my duties as secretary, I also delivered hand-outs to girls who weren't in attendance on the day they were passed out. I also have completed all the projects available to the young women in my church, and I'm working on doing them a second time! Recently I organized an activity for all the young men and women in my church. As well as all this, I participated in a choir for a young women's conference in my church. This required lots of extra time and practice. Along with going to church every Sunday, I take time out of my school schedule to attend church classes during the week. I love my church; I'm devoted to it.
Academics
I am a junior in high school and I currently have a 3.91 GPA. I am taking pre-calculus this year and I love it! Math comes easily to me, so I also enjoy helping others who don't understand it as quickly. As a sophomore I took AP history. I received all "A's" in this class and passed the AP test at the end of the year. I am taking AP government and politics this year, and have received all "A's" so far. When I pass the AP test for this class at the end of the year, that score, in conjunction with my AP test score from last year, will count as a history credit for certain colleges. I am also taking Honors English and Physics this year. Because I'm on drill, it's sometimes hard to find time for homework. However, I recognize the importance of good grades and I work hard for my "A's" all year.
