Academics
I am currently and active member in National Honor Society and have been for 3 years. I have gotten numerous renaissance awards for my academic success. These awards include Gold Honor Roll, Silver Honor Roll, Perfect Attendance, Super Student, Work Habit Honor Roll and many others. Throughout my high school career I have taken 2 AP Classes and a number of dual credit classes allowing for some college credit. I am currently enrolled in a Kirkwood Community College Health Occupations class which will give me 4-8 college credits depending on how I do in the class. I am a very focused student, that turns in all my homework on time and work very hard for the grades I achieve. If i have trouble I always go in and ask for help and am a very trusted student to many teachers.
Athletics
I have been involved in Club Soccer since 4th grade and have won many tournaments and have been Iowa State Champions 3 years in a row. I have participated in basketball, volleyball, track and soccer while in high school. Last year in basketball I was a co-captain and we achieved Co-Conference Champions. This year we hope to make it to the State tournament. In the past 4 years of Track I have been to Drake Relays, and the State Meet for 4x1,4x2,4x8, and Distance Medley. Sophomore year we placed and in the 4x1. For the past 2 years our soccer team has made it to Sub-State but lost in the last game to get to state. I excel in athletics because I am very persistent and work very hard to achieve what I want to succeed. I don't give up until I achieve it and I am a team player.
Community Service
I think I excel in Community Service because I am a team player and want to help other people. Last summer I volunteered at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics as a junior volunteer. I helped at the library and helped patients get around the hospital and many other things. I have also volunteer through my church such as angel tree, food pantry, and free lunch in downtown Iowa City for homeless residents. I have also helped pick grapes at a local vineyard and helped family members in lawn mowing, babysitting and moving. I think community service is a very influencing thing to others and most of all yourself; through realizing how thankful you are and not taking things for granted.
