ATTRIBUTES
Academics
As a freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior I have been a member of the school's Interact service club. I had a 4.0 GPA my sophomore and junior year. As a sophomore, I received two academic awards: 1 for being an outstanding math student, and another for being an outstanding French student. Each award was given to only a select few. I received distinguished honor roll both semesters my sophomore year, and both semesters my junior year. I was admitted into the National Honor Society and the French National Honor Society as a sophomore. I was awarded the Converse College Junior Scholar Award in 11th grade.
Community Service
Three summers in a row, I volunteered at St. Mary's Hospital. First as a Visiting Angel taking a cart of comfort items to every room of the hospital to brighten their day. My second summer was spent in the Emergency Department cleaning patient rooms and restocking; I also got the opportunity to shadow an RN. I got to interact with so many new and different people, and got a taste for hospital life. My last summer I volunteered in the Education and Diabetes Education department learning secretarial work. I volunteered at the food bank: organizing food items into boxes for families in need. I volunteered at an elementary school and improved their landscape. I participated in the Costa Rican Carbon Offset Program by helping a local farmer replenish his forest with over 200 baby trees.
Athletics
I began to competitively ride horses at three years old, and have since owned my own horses and rode the English hunter/jumper discipline. I rode 5 days a week, two of which were lessons with a professional trainer. I rode on my school's IEA equestrian team my freshman, sophomore, and junior year, and was competing at the highest varsity level offered. I made it to regional finals my freshman and sophomore years. At the end of my junior year, varsity football cheerleading season, I was voted for by my teammates to receive the award for "most improved". My junior year was the first time in my life that I had ever cheered. This award was an honor to me because I felt as if my hard work and dedication to become a good cheerleader had paid off and was noticed by others.
