Academics
I take my academics very seriously, spending about 3-4 hours a night on homework after I have finished my other activities. During my sophomore and junior years a took a total of 3 AP classes, including World History, U.S. History, and Psychology. I am currently taking 5 AP courses including Economics, Calculus AB, Language & Composition, U.S. & Comparative Government, and German. I am also in an Honors Independent Science Research class where I am studying the effects of UV-B radiation on plant DNA, and a Business course to prepare myself for college, as I plan on majoring in Business Management. I have been on the Honor Roll since the 6th grade, and have received a Varsity letter for my academic achievements. I scored a 1900 on my SAT and a 30 on my ACT.
Athletics
I have played soccer ever since I could walk. I have played travel soccer for the past 7 years, and have won many tournaments including the Sun Cup in Virginia Beach - a very prestigious tournament. I also play soccer for my school - I began playing JV sophomore and Varsity my junior year and this upcoming season. Soccer is more than just a sport for me - my life wouldn't be the same without it, and I can't imagine my life if I never began playing. When I step onto the field, it feels like I don't even control myself and I just play.
I began riding horses when I was about 11 years old. I own three horses and have competed in local shows. Even just mucking out three stalls is a work out!
Community Service
Every summer since 8th grade I have volunteered at my church at Vacation Bible School (VBS). VBS is a week-long camp where children sing, dance, listen to stories, make crafts, and play games. I have a group of about 6 children that I lead to the different activities throughout the day. I love interacting with the children and seeing them have a great time.
I also volunteer at Loudoun Therapeutic Riding. It is an equine program that helps children with disabilities become stronger mentally and physically, but more importantly a program that gives them the freedom they would not otherwise have. I either side walk next to the horse to make sure the child doesn't fall off or I lead the horse. I'm making a difference in their lives, but at the same time they're changing mine.
